Introduction

This program aims at providing staff of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) who are involved in the monitoring and evaluation of the activities of Legal, Insurance and Finance in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry with the knowledge and skills required to effectively play their compliance role.

The program has been designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge of the fundamentals of Law, Insurance and Finance in the Nigerian Oil and Gas industry with particular emphasis on the provisions of the Nigerian Content Act 2010. The program will explore the compliance requirements of the Act in each category area and help participants improve capacity to interpret and understand reports submitted by the operating companies for legal, insurance and financial services received over the plan period. In addition, the program will also expose participants to other extant laws that will help deepen participants knowledgebase.

Who should attend?

This program has been designed primarily for staff of the Monitoring and Evaluation Team of the Nigerian Content Monitoring and Development Board who are involved in ensuring compliance of Operating Companies with the provisions of the NOGIC Act in regard to Legal, Insurance and Financial services in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry. The Content and Structure of the program has been designed to benefit participants from other directorates who require to broaden their knowledge base in the areas of Law, Insurance and finance in the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry

Objectives of the Workshop

The Legal, Insurance and Finance Services in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry program has been designed in recognition of the need to strengthen the knowledgebase and capacity of staff in the Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate of the Board to enforce compliance of the operating companies in the area of legal, insurance and financial services in line with the provisions of the Nigerian Content Act 2010.

Participants at the end of the program will be able to;

  1. Understand and describe the key principles and aspects of the Law, Insurance and Finance relevant to ensuring full compliance with the provisions of the NOGIC Act by the operating Companies.
  2. Understand and efficiently use the reporting template and interpret the reports submitted by the Operating Companies.
  3. Draw insights and carry out assessment of the level of compliance demonstrated by the Operating Companies.
  4. Document findings and be able to provide informed feedback to Management of their findings
  5. Appreciate other extant laws that impact compliance provisions of the Nigerian Content Act 2010
